Help with some 360 slim problems? - Wardenclyffe - 05-28-2013 Alright, first off I didn't know whether or not this should be in the help section or the gaming section, so sorry about that. Now to the stuff I need help with. I bought a copy of Injustice: Gods Among Us today for my 360. I played it for maybe ten minutes before it gets stuck trying to autosave. After a few minutes of it not doing anything, I turn my console off/on and try again except this time I can't even make it past the main menu while damn game sits and tries to auto-save (don't ask me why it's auto saving at the main menu). So I hit the home button and then Y to return to dashboard....aaaaand the console freezes. I think to myself that it would probably help to install the game, because the last time this happened installing the game fixed the problem. I go to install the game and it gets stuck on five percent. Knowing that system cache shit and corrupt data on the hard drive can cause this, I wipe the cache and check for any corrupt data. The only corrupt data I can find is the data from the game failing to install, so I delete it. I repeat this process a few more times and then shit gets real. After a few attempts to install, I get a message saying something along the lines of "There's something shitty in your system or you're missing really important shit, so we're going to restart your console and update it". I hit "A" and the tv goes black and the green light that's usually on the power button turns red. Fuck me right? But it gets weirder. I turn on the console again and everything is totally fine. Except for the fact that all of my data is corrupt. Like, everything. Game saves, profile data, you name it. I shut down the console, make sure the hdd is plugged in correctly, and then turn it back on. This time all my data is fine, but I still can't play or install Injustice. And every time I try and fail, everything gets corrupt and then goes back to normal. The console is only a few years old, it's the MW3 special edition. It has been dropped once from on top of a tv stand, but that didn't stop me from playing any other game. I did have to install Skyrim and Borderlands 2, but once I did all my problems stopped. I'm really tempted to just wipe the entire hard drive to get rid of anything that could be corrupt, but I'm not really sure if that will help. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Wardenclyffe - 05-29-2013 Sorry for the double post, but a mod or someone can go ahead and delete or lock this thread. I've figured out the problem and there's not really anything I can do about it right now. RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Petie - 05-29-2013 For the sake of future people who might stumble upon this thread, please explain what the issue was, even if you can't fix it at the moment. RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Wardenclyffe - 05-29-2013 Sure thing! In short, all this can basically be summed up as hard drive failure. After a few hours of messing around with a butt ton of useless "solutions", I got the red light on the power button and the E-68 screen saying "You totally need to send your 360 to us, because man is it fucked". RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Petie - 05-30-2013 Yeah, after reading that you dropped it at one point, I had a feeling that the hard drive was at fault but it was hard to say for sure without details. I'm glad you got it figured out though I am sorry to hear it's dead. Thanks for the follow up though! RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Wardenclyffe - 05-30-2013 Well it was dropped September of last year and has been working perfectly until two days ago. I don't know if the drop is 100% the cause of the problem or not, but I'm sure it had something to do with it haha. I hope this will help someone else in the future! RE: Help with some 360 slim problems? - Petie - 05-30-2013 It could be that the drive was damaged in the fall and finally died entirely. I'm curious if the other games that used to work still do but it does really sound like a hard drive problem. If you can, it could actually be a faulty game but the rest of your data becoming corrupt means you should still probably replace both, even if the hard drive is not entirely at fault here.
