Favorite super mario game? - Artwark - 06-22-2013

To be every super mario game i've played are enjoyable. I can't really say which one's my favorite. Even super mario 3d land was fun too.

But the most innovative super mario game I've played are super mario 64 and Galaxy 2.

My favorite is probably Super Mario 64, because aside from New Super Mario U, It's the last one I played, And what I really Didn't like (although has nothing to do with this thread) Was how easy NSMB Wii-U was. I had like 40 lives by the time I beat the first world. It was like I was playing a game made for 10-year-olds. (NO OFFENCE TO WHOEVER LOVES THAT GAME, I JUST FOUND IT WAAAAY TO FREAKING EASY, COMPARED TO SMB3)
Super Mario 64 was also one of the first N64 games I got to play.

EDIT: If we're including Spin-offs, my favorite would have to be Paper Mario 64. While some could argue that The First one was Better, I think it was a great game, and still is very fun, but Paper Mario will hold a special place in my heart as being One of the first RPG game that I beat.

Does this include Spin offs?

If so, I'd actually say Super Mario RPG. As much as I love Paper Mario, Mario&Luigi, etc, this one is the best one to me due to it's great battling system that knew how to balance itself well with difficulty. While the story is not all that strong, it's better compared to Mario terms in that it's really enjoyable, and some of the scenes are just flat out hilarious to me. Plus, as much as people like to say he's overrated, I have to admit that I do love me some Geno.

In a very close tie it would be Mario Galaxy 2. The first Mario Galaxy was one of the most innovative 3D (if not in general) Mario games to come out that was fully able to utilize not only the gravity free environments, but even the motion controls. Galaxy 2 took that and just made it a bit better with some more powers and some better stages.

Smash Bros or kart.

Super Mario Land 2, always is and always will be.

Unless Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and Super Mario 3D World prove me wrong.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

The most mechanically involved, the best 100% completion systems imo and an absolutely beautiful apex of 2D, sidescrolling art that still outdoes modern Nintendo offerings 18 years later - ie: the previews of the 3DS sequel shown thus far that run on a modified NSMB engine. It's the stick I measure indie games with.

It's so charming and whimsical, and has some somberness to it when it ends. Some nobility and altruism in it's themes because it's about cooperating, a community coming together to protect a child that is not one of their own, rather than rescuing a kidnapped princess... an archetype that is rapidly becoming something the modern, diverse video game industry is rejecting on an editorial, intellectual level as primitive and exclusive. I'd say it excels on both a game design and artistic standpoint, as well as a meritable one in the way a classic children's book would gracefully and entertainingly teach values.

Aside from all that it's just my favorite 'cause it is.

Super Mario World, it was the first game I ever played and it's a damn good one.

Super Mario Sunshine.

This game bring summer into your room, this mario game is really tough too.

My favorite has to be Super Mario Sunshine, because of all the different characters and the strange gameplay with F.L.U.D.D. It was also one of the first games I really got in to. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but that is my favorite.

I like Yoshi's Island and Super Mario Bros 2.

Dude, same. People are always like "Dude, SMB2 sucks", and I'm like "You know something, you suck!". Seriously though, there's a small part of my heart reserved for Yoshi's Island. My god, I love that game.

My favourite has to be either Super Mario World or Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Playing those games always reminds me warmly of growing up. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was quite good as well but it still doesn't match up to the nostalgia...

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is the only correct answer.
