A minor example: I never once heard Nintendo Land mentioned under the good Wii U games, despite it being an incredible game. The problem is image. Nintendo Land doesn't look like a good game, it looks childish and gimmicky, right? But in fact it's actually a stunningly good game with a lot more content than it seems.

Now that's just one game, but throughout Nintendo's history people fail to notice these gems or disregard them as trash.

Perfect reason why I still buy Nintendo consoles. If I didn't have Wii, then I wouldn't have come across incredible(third party exclusive) games such as: No More Heroes and 2(Though 1 went multiplatform), Mad World, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Conduit, Muramasa: Demon Blade(Though that's coming to Vita...why?), The Last Story and of course, all of the first party titles. I still go to my friends house with other people were we play Mario Party 7, 8 and 9.
The Wii had some amazing games that never came out to other consoles. THe only problem being that they were few in amount and the distance between each release didn't want me returning to my Wii as much as I did with the Xbox/PS3.

(09-15-2013, 11:16 PM)Artwark Wrote: Ok i apologize for the harsh comment. But still, now that the Wii U runs in HD, third party devs can now make games out of it. If they don't want to use a tablet, then they can use the pro controller instead. So why can't they do that?

Because Nintendo generally don't have an open platform. If you make a game on their system you have to abide by their rules. Why they don't use the pro-controller only? I can only think of a few weak reasons.
1) Basically an on-screen mouse to make quick interaction on screen
2) Games like Wonderful101 have a game that's centered about drawing, which the Wii U gamepad is perfect for(Which oddly backfires when they allow you to use the right thumbstick instead and use pro controllers... so it's no really needed)

No idea really. In all honesty, when you think about the Wii U gamepad it's more of a convenience than necessity. Games like Arkham City and Darksiders 2 came out on the other platforms first which didn't use a touch screen controller. Games like Wonderful 101 or WWHD have alternative options for doing the game design or just display an inventory.

A shame really. I think the Gamepro controller is one of the best design game controllers ever (along with the GameCube and Xbox 360).

Maybe the reason why everyone is hating the Wii U is because they fear the ''change'' it will cause in the video game industry? If you think about it, whenever something nobody expects comes into play often times people would be afraid of it. And would criticize it to make themselves feel good. I for one, played the Wii u at a friends house. I've loved it(if anyone wonders what I played, I've played Ducktales Remastered and Super Mario bros Wii U for it).

Nintendo is doing what every business is(well, some of the time depending on what business of course) exploring new ideas for entertainment. Remember how Steve Jobs pitched about the Ipod as 'a way to bring music on the go' and everyone laughed at his idea? Well, guess what, its one of the known products from Apple. I saw the Wii U control as Nintendo taking a few notes from Apple regarding on the touch screen of both Ipod and Iphones in general. With the things that can be used for gaming with the Wii U the ideas are endless for it.

I remember even hearing that some games were originally made for the Wii U but would end up being ported to other consoles(Rayman Legends) to times where development is scrapped completely for the Wii U to the other consoles. Besides. You think with the never ending hate from Xbone gamers outside of Nintendo goers would be kind on Nintendo for actually caring for the gamers aside from Sony.

But with Unity now, they say that its much easier to make games on Nintendo now.
so how in.....never mind.

Well atleast we get potential games next month like Lost world(Believe me that game looks really impressive!)

Actually, the Eshop is one of the Wii U's stronger suits, a lot of Unity based developers have been putting their games on Wii U and as such there is a promising array of indie games such as Shovel Knight coming out for it.

The only thing is though that none of them seem to be Wii U exclusive, and as such, while it will have a promising library, it still doesn't prove the potential of the Gamepad (Which Nintendo bet all their chips on, so to speak.)

Lost World, however, looks to be the best of the 3D Sonic games. I'm probably gonna get it with Smash Bros.

I agree. But this is why Nintendo having the Apple level of mentality is their own downfall. Nintendo are within a much tighter competitive industry than smart phones. Apple are the exact same when it comes to computing. They live inside their own bubble of smugness while Windows is a very open platform that isn't buckled down by the company that made it. When you buy an Apple product you have to stick with their way of thinking, outside of the industry.

Gaming however is the same but because the industry is nowhere even close to being as expansive as operating systems, they can't afford to go and down their own thing. Nintendo can add all the stuff they want like motion controls and a gamepad screen, but at the risk of the alienating an entire player base to play by their rules.

Sony and Microsoft can be given titles like Tekken Tag 2, Catherine, Battlefield 4, Watch_Dogs because they make a system that's similar in hardware and able to compete and have that level of compatibility. Nintendo keeping all the toys to themselves and to then finish their Wii console 2 years ago, while Microsoft and Sony still have their two coming out with support for the PS3 and Xbox 360 still going only makes Nintendo look worse off(which they currently are. You only have to look at the Wii U sales to see the evidence).

Unity doesn't make it easier to make games, it just means that Nintendo are willing to accept Unity publications. I program in Unity myself and love it. Good to see Nintendo taking on this application.

Lost World does look like a fun Sonic Game. I just don't like the powerup mechanics. Though I'll end up playing it later.

GTA V coming out later tonight. Where's the Wii U version?

......Even if Nintendo wanted it to show up, I don't think they would make a port of it for the Wii U.

Which brings me to another topic but that is in another thread.....

Arjahn, as long as you use dual swords, I don't care. DUAL SWORDS ONLY!!!

Bitch please, Great Axe all the way.

As for the actual topic of this thread, I honestly love Nintendo consoles for the games alone, I don't think I really need to justify myself with anything else. As fancy as any other console or master PC gets, it's not going to have Smash Bros on it. Lately my problem has been that Nintendo's consoles are getting lazy with their starting lineups. Monster Hunter aside, the Wii U didn't get any great games until [i]god damn July[/s], and even then, Pikmin isn't exactly the Killer App we've been waiting for. It was similar with the 3DS, even now that the 3DS is my favorite console since the SNES, for the first year it's best game was a fawking Street Fighter port.

I don't hate any console or company either by the way, even EA in all of its satanic glory. Sure they might have dickish business practices sometimes or dissapoint all of us, but it's their properties and products. If I don't want them, I don't have to buy them. This isn't to say that they should be immune to criticism or anything, without the internet's backlash the Xbone would be a disaster, I just try to stay out of the muck when I can.

Fair enough. My problem is that everyone outside of North America(and sometimes Japan) are some sort of unimportant area.
It's why I hate Atlus and their shitty business decisions towards Europe.
It's why people give Microsoft shit for calling other countries First, Second and Third tier.

As of late The Wind Waker was released to North America early, whereas Europe is some sort of obscure area not worth taking into account. Nintendo make some of the dumbest business decisions as they go on. It couldn't be better with the fact it's on a terrible system with an online service(eShop) that's overpriced (with taxes and higher price than RRP) with no account system.
What are Nintendo doing?

RE: Why is everyone hating the WiiU and Nintendo? - Artwark - 10-05-2013

This is the month of Wii U without a doubt. After seeing the Nintendo direct, I'm convinced that the Wii U will outsell the PS4 and ONE.

As I said earlier, The Wii U has creative opportunity.

Eh? Elaborate please on how the WiiU will have more sells. While Nintendo is dominating the hand held market (and when Pokemon comes out...wow), the console sales have not been that hot and there's nothing really big at the moment for people to buy the console. Even Windwaker HD has been having low sales, which many suspected would have boosted sales of the WiiU.
