Auto-Updating Twitter Account - Dazz - 10-06-2013 Hey guys, A week or so ago, me and Pete created a Twitter account that automatically tweets every time a new piece of trivia is accepted onto the site. This is a great way of keeping updated while you're just using the web, and will save you having to constantly double-check trivia. It also means that you can see more than just the last 10 things uploaded, a serious benefit. We'll look into way in which we can use this on the site itself in the next few weeks, but for now; Let us know what you think, and we'll take any criticism or suggestions on board! :) Take it easy, Dazz RE: Auto-Updating Twitter Account - gamemaster1991 - 10-06-2013 I think it's a good idea. It allows people to see when a new piece of trivia is added without having to check the site every two minutes. However I think it could get, as someone else put it, "Spamy." DYKG updates 1-3 times a day compared to VGFacts being know to update 3-10 facts a day. Still you really can't fix it unless you do very few trivia acceptances a day or send out a newsletter to people at the end of the week, which still sounds like a lot to read and would probably be more work for you guys. I'm for the new VGFactsUpdates twitter. Even though I don't use twitter. RE: Auto-Updating Twitter Account - JiraiyaSennin - 10-06-2013 Maybe for VGFacts we could have a sort of subscription button for each game we're into, so we don't get destroyed by a thousand updates from games we don't care about. Just an idea. RE: Auto-Updating Twitter Account - Petie - 10-06-2013 That's not really possible as it isn't how twitter works unfortunately. But isn't that the nature of Twitter? Even 20 updates a day wouldn't be out of the norm on that site, so I think it's a good idea. The newsletter is a good idea, but if you're going to do that, why not just check the Recent Updates once a day? |
