General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread
Nichijou probably has to be my favorite KyoAni TV series at the moment due to it's clever comedic writing and likable characters, though I really didn't care for the professor as she just came off as a brat most of the time and not much else. Props to KyoAni for actually putting detail into their animation and making it the best animated slice of life I have seen.

I got used to the professor because she, despite being a genius, stayd true to her character which essentially was a little kid. I liked that. What I didn't like was how extremely annoying Misato was when she was insisting she didn't have a thing for Sasahara. Even when not prompted. I hate characters like that.

As for the animation... Eh... I think it's really similar to Azumanga Daioh. It does stand out on some segments but most of the time it's pretty similar to that. Kind of modernized, I guess.

To Azumanga Daioh? I disagree completely with that as Azumanga had minimal animation that took shortcuts all the time. With Nichijou, all the movements are fluid in execution and they try to experiment with different techniques. Or are you referring to the style, as style and animation are quite different.

Style. As for the animation itself, that's why I said it's kind of like "modernized" Azumanga Daioh.

Ahh yeah, I can see why others think the style is similar with Azumanga Daioh.

In others news, I watched the one episode OVA Little Witch Academia, which is sweet in both story and animation. It could have honestly worked as a 12 episode series or even a feature length film.

Hey, could someone track down the original 2006 Kyo no Go ni Ni OVA for me? I can only find the new one that was released after the series itself. I need to start from the beginning to know if this one is any good.

Or, just some general opinions on it. That would be fine too.

Well after finishing Toaru Majutsu no Index, I was kind of saddened, as it is a very unique anime and an interesting one as well, and it came to and end, only to find out that it had a second season, and a spin-off that is airing it's second season, with each season consisting of 24 episodes, I've now got an extra 48 or so episodes to watch and counting.

Anyhow, since I've finished Season 1, I guess I can give my opinion on the series.

Toaru Majutsu no Index is definitely an anime to watch. The characters are humourous and lovable, the plots are usually very interesting, and the twists will send chills down your spine. You can search up the plot yourselves, since recalling it is kind of long.

Touma, the main character is your generic Anime Hero, never backs down, always fights no matter what, but the thing that makes him different in my opinion is that he is usually dragged into things, and he forces himself to fight, it's not his duty per se, but he just does it, to protect Index, who herself can fight when needed to.

The one thing I really liked about the Anime was how Touma is meant to be the weakest person in the whole of Acadamy City, but his power is to block and absorb any other power, no matter how powerful with his right hand. This is interesting as some of the most powerful people in the Anime can't defeat him, he even goes up against the most powerful person in the Anime, and that episode is really good.

The one thing I disliked about it was that the episodes ended on annoying cliffhangers, and this only occured after episode 10 or so, usually they'd end with him saying "Such Misfortune" and the episode would close, but after that, the episodes had annoying cliffhangers that sort of made me hate forcing myself to watch the next episode, just to see what happens. I also didn't like how half the time there would be people speaking, in Japanese, music playing, in Japanese and then other people trying to talk, in Japanese, meaning my screen was full of Subtitles that I couldn't read in time to understand everything, and this was really annoying sometimes.

Still, apart from that the Anime is very good, and I'd recommend it to anyone who like Comedic Action Animes, with a subtle love plot in there.

I really don't remember an opening I really liked, but I guess I liked this:

I also did a fan-opening for kicks. (And it's a very guilty pleasure, and the video itself is awful by today's standards)
