It isn't even about video games anymore! There's all these stupid add ons that just jack the price up and I'll never use! I thought I'd at least still buy handhelds, but even they keep getting loaded down with stupid crap. I don't even use the 3D feature on my 3DS!
I was fine with my wonderful PS2! The controller was so comfortable and not all big and clunky like they are now. They hurt my child-like hands! It released terrific games and I had a massive library of them! The graphics were fine as well! The only issue was the memory cards since I prefer saving my games on a hard drive and not trying to remember what games were saved on each card! It was also fully backwards compatible with the PS1! It looked and felt cheap, but that system was pretty hardy! I haven't had to replace it at all yet!
Might I recommend a computer with one of these.

You'd have to upgrade on occasion , but not as much as you'd think. Maybe every console cycle or so, you may have to if you want to keep up with modern games at max settings. Its not like the PC has a large selection or anything? Besides, you can emulate games you already own from consoles on a pc and make them prettier.

I am not made of money. PC gaming is way too expensive. I just have my crappy laptop here.

Eh, just an idea, not an order. Though, if money is an issue gaming wise, steam and amazon have some pretty good deals. Then there's this.
https://www.humblebundle.com/
Custom payments, 5+ good indie games for just over a dollar, for a good cause, and best of all, cheap.
Only downside is there seems to be a java pop-up on there. Ignore that, I think it may be malicious. I got Bastion, Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, and all of company of heroes on there for $2.33 with steam codes. (This was during the THQ bundle minus Bastion)

They're still used for playing video games. Nothing changed.

I use my WiiU as a toaster and my 3DS as a snuggle buddy. If I'm feeling a bit wild, I open up my Gamecube and cook up some pancakes.

I'll post this here too since it is relevant here as well.
Back in my day, all we used cell phones for was for calling.
Back in my day, all we used mp3 players was to play mp3's.
Back in my day, all we used TV's for was to watch TV.
Back in my day, all we used DVD/Blu-Ray players for was to watch DVD's or Blu-Rays.
Technology changes. It's funny that no one complains about them changing, but when video games change, everyone loses their minds! Video gaming is no different.

Because in my case it's a bunch of shit I don't need, nor will I use. My wage won't change just because I need an extra $200 for a gaming system. I will never understand why folks need all the extra garbage.

Because I do only use my phone/mp3 player/Dvd|blu-player to do those things only. Except TV, it's not worth owning a tv anymore.

I actually complain about unnecessary changes in all of the above on a regular basis.

Then don't use it. It's as simple as that. Watching TV on your Xbox One isn't required. It's not like you HAVE to use it to do anything else. It's an option.
Will I use it? No. I have no needs for it so I couldn't care less about it.

That doesn't change that I have to pay for it.

You have to pay to use TV on your Xbox one? Since when?
Oh, that's right. You don't.

I'm referring to all the other things that get added onto systems nowadays I don't use and that jacks up the price.

But it's still an option. You don't have to use any of it.
