How to give people more rep?
#1
I gave Bumble some rep the other day, and I wanted to do it again today, so his count could go up by 2, but I don't know how to, every time I do it, it just updates the previous one.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to just update the old one (with the same text if you want) to +2.

Jetters is correct. The system only allows you to rep a person once. Though you can update the comment for that rating later, you can't continually add to/subtract from someone's rep.

Then, how come I've got +3, one from Bumble and two from ST.

That's what I want to do, update the post to give more rep.

Moderators can give up to +/-2 per rep. That wasn't multiple reps, just a mod using the +2 option they have.

When we were over at DYKG, I found a way to add more rep. See on Hexadecimals or your reputation profile, I gave her my first +1, however that forum allowed you to give them more rep from specific posts. So if I want to give them more rep, I would find a random post and give them +1 that way. Also, I didn't know we Mods have +2. It took me a few hours to realise I was giving people +2 instead of +1 D: DYKG habit (but I realised it now). I think the same thing with Seriously Though.

As of now, I have per-post-rep disabled as I've seen it often leads to abuse of the system. As I said in another thread though, it's something I'm willing to discuss.

And yes, staff get a little bit more rep ability and you are definitely welcome to use it, though you have the option of giving less if you'd like.

Ah damn. I just laughed quite a bit when I saw Bumble's Title, and I didn't really want to just update the rep this, I wanted to add on more.

Also, I can assume this is the same for negative rep.

Oh man you best believe -7 rep is coming your way.

yea it seems only admins can add +3, while mods and normal members can add up to +2.

Well, since this is partially out in the open, let me set it straight.

Admins can give +/-3, infinite times per day.
Mods can give +/-2, 30 times per day.
Founding Members can give +/-2, 15 times per day.
Everyone else can give +/-1, 10 times per day.

Limits are in place to at least curb potential rep spree abuse but were raised from their original values to make the system a little more friendly.

Rep can only be given directly to a member and only once per member. Everyone follows this rule and it can't be modified by group.

I don't know if this has been addressed, I'm too lazy to read through the thread.

But you can only rep someone once through their profile. If you rep them again from their profile, it just updates the previous one. If you want to give someone more rep, I suggest just picking a post of theirs and give them rep that way.

It has :P And the main message was that per-post rep is no longer enabled. See above for details.

Oh, so that's why I can no longer rep people on their posts. Oh well. :(
