I need to catch up on the recent tmnt episodes. I know I'd love to see a movie based off of the recent show(it would be ten times better than the uncanny realistic turtles movie)

I'm rewatching Xiaolin Showdown for when ever I get around to ordering the game. I never thought that the show would hold up after all these years. When I'm done I'm going to see what they did with the sequel series, Xiaolin Chronicles.

There's like 18 episodes out at the moment in total of season 2 and I'm only in episode 10. I'm still pretty interested in the upcoming movie. There's a lot of Michael Bay hate on the internet but I really did like the first two Transformers movies he made. The third one was kind of meh, I do hope the fourth will be better. Yes, I know, he's only producing the Turtles movie, not directing or anything, but that still doesn't stop people from losing their shit. Just.... Don't keep the main focus on the human characters, plz.

Usually every other year I take out my Home Movies box sets and try to watch a disc per day until I’m finished. I think I was about 10 years old when I first saw it on Adult Swim while channel surfing. It was the camp episode where the Russian kid pees in Coach McGuirk’s canteen, which I thought was hilarious at the time.
Unfortunately I’m not laughing as much as I used to, but I still love this show. I also like how it’s not just a mindless comedy. You can start watching at any episode and not be that much in the dark, but there’s actually a lot going on with the characters and continuity. In season 1 you can see that Paula is not doing so well. She’s toughing it out as a single mom, trying to pay the bills, and struggling at work. She drinks heavily and yet manages to be the best mother she can for Brendon and Josie. Brendon seems oblivious to all this and devotes his energy to making films with Jason and Melissa, with real life often being the inspiration for the plots. I’m on season 2 now where Andrew, Brendon’s dad, shows up. Andrew has been an MIA parent until then and struggles with how to interact with Brendon. If it weren’t hard enough to have his dad back in the picture, Brendon has to deal with Linda, Andrew’s fiance that’s 11 years younger than him and a bitch on wheels. Brendon’s relationship with his dad is a part that always stuck in my head because of how cruel it was. After Paula calls Andrew to tell him about Brendon being on TV Andrew initiates contact again only to really say “hi” and then “bye” when Linda gets pregnant with his child. After this Andrew never shows up again or is mentioned. He’s got a new life now and leaves Brendon behind. But you know what? It’s Andrew that’s missing out; no value is gone from Brendon’s life. He’s not the best male role model for Brendon to have, but Coach McGuirk more than makes up for his biological dad being out of the picture. I still remember how cute it was when McGuirk got jealous while Andrew was there. In the final episode of Home Movies it makes sure to show who Brendon’s real family is. It ends with Brendon, Jason, Melissa, Paula, and Coach Mcguirk driving away after an unfortunate grill accident. Brendon’s realizing that their movies are going nowhere, and Melissa wants to try being a bit more feminine, but they’re all together through these changes. I like to think that whether they all lived close together or not when they got older, they always stayed best friends.

I just spotted this in an episode of Home Movies called Storm Warning. I don't think it's just a coincidence.

^ A reference perhaps?
Here's a little gem from 1930. I happen to enjoy black and white cartoons mostly for the surrealism that they unleashed. You weren't expecting what was going to happen in a rubber hose cartoon.

That was nothing like the cartoons I grew up watching. On another note, there were some parts in there that I thought would make some pretty weird GIFs.

So there's this new cartoon series coming up about animal characters in a fantasy setting. Looks cool.

Long trope list. I looked up the show again, and if what I read is correct, they never actually released a dvd, which is sad.

He planed to release a DVD to make the fans happy, but Another head basically said that it was a waste of the networks funds and caned that idea. I'm starting to think that the CN hates fun new ideas.

True mass, I will admit Banjo-kazooie did come to my mind when it got to that part of the cartoon. Although. I wonder if Rare was influenced by the golden age of cartoons when it came to developing Banjo-kazooie.
Megas XLR was a gem for me. It was canceled when CN was going through the 'bad choice' era(as I call it) since it was around the beginning when they were declining in terms of cartoons and decision making when it came to cartoons and business. It got worse when the Boston bomb scare happened(anyone remember that? It was just a flipping neon light of a character from Aqua teen hunger force). Don't get me started on plasticman being rejected for Johnny Test. Inexcusable |
