The Genre you love but suck at.
#1
What genre are you bad at but love really like?

For me, I'd probably say most fighting games, strategy games, and if I'm telling the truth, fps games.

I loved playing Mortal Kombat for the most part (sans final bosses, I mean), but then I went online ... It completely and utterly ruined the genre for me because I can't do combo's to save the life of me.

Fighting games. I play it a lot, something like 70% of my gaming time is about it, but I am very bad at it. And I am bad at Mario kart too (let's say it's a genre by itself).

I like fighting games like Mortal Kombat, but I am absolute shit at them. There are just too many inputs to memorize for me to get good at them.

And fighting are in the lead with 5 votes.

I'll also add military games. I'm pretty good at FPS games, but any game that involves the military, I suck at.

First person shooters. I just cant even explain how terrible I am at them.

But sometimes, I get lucky and get 12 kills and 3 deaths or something similar.

Its not a genre but more pointed towards fighting games. The games I really like (UMVC3, TTT2) I am very bad at them, The fighting games I like less than others (Injustice, Mortal Kombat) Injustice being the one I disliked the most I am actually really good at *cough 32 win streak and 400 wins cough*.

I love RPGs, but I'm not really "good" at them, I just grind my levels up higher than generally needed to get through.

I think fighters are going to be the main theme of this thread. I suck at them too.

Fighting games, and RTS.

Also, to an extent TBS. Which really annoys me cause I like TBS's so much but for some reason whenever I play against another human I fuck up.

I think it's cause I prefer to build up an army then go and attack, as opposed to building a small powerful army to capture points and defend the base, then build up more.

Fighting games. I'm not that bad at Smash Bros, but when it comes to the games where you have to memorize combos and the like I just can't do it.

The Mario Kart series. You would not believe how bad I am at it. But I really like the Mario Kart series.

I'm not bad at fighting games it's just the faster ones I have tend to suck at but games like Injustice is when I'm a beast. I suck at first person shooters most of the time especially competitive.

The genre is always going to have that level of entry though.

Fortunately for me it's not fighters as I mainly play them but....visual novels(Mainly Phoenix Wright). I see forum posts about how people enjoyed the Phoenix Wright games but not many talk about being stuck. I'll be completely stumped in the investigation or court case which results in me save scumming my way through the game. I really enjoy the characters, dialogue, scenarios, cases, character interactions and everything else that makes the Phoenix Wright games so great but I'm so bad at the figuring stuff out.

There's one example that I still remember nearly two years on. I was stuck on the first game for around an hour. Only to find out I had to search for a piece of crumple paper under the table. The salt was high.

It's funny you bring up Mr. Wright. I suck at those games and bairly got through the first one. I'm watching SuperJeenus's LP of the first game and I wonder how he figures out the game so fast (to the point that he figured out a peace of evidence before the game let him use it). I always thought I was dumb for not getting the puzzles.
