These days is pretty common for games to have collector's editions, special editions etc, so much so that it's really getting closer to how it is with movies, because of steelbooks and artbooks, as opposed to movies having their own steelbooks and of course Digi-books. I like artbooks and steelbooks, to the point where I don't mind paying extra for them, but also to the point where I'm okay with putting in a little extra money to get them. My question to everyone is, what are your thoughts on them? Considering of course, that some of these also come with figures, digital goods and other things, even including blu-ray movies on occasion. Also, what are your thoughts about all of the ones coming to us in the start of next year? Just off the top of my head, FF Explorers has one, then there's Fire Emblem Fates, The Legacy Collection, collectors edition for Megaman, Mighty No. 9, Uncharted 4, which has two versions and Street Fighter 5. If there's anymore, I can't think of them, but is that too many at once? Do you want more? I think of this as an interesting topic we as a gaming community don't talk about much and I love to know everyone's thoughts on them.

I guess you could always count the 3 Pokemon games per region. I never cared for that.

I'm not so sure I'd count those though. The main reason for that being the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition which has all three version of the game in one package. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw that happen more often if Fates does well. Games like Yo-kai Watch, which granted, aren't as popular here in the west, do have multiple editions in the east, so if the sequels for Yo-kai Watch got brought to the west, it may be that they to get the Fire Emblem Fates treatment. Also, I while I can't think of any other games that do that, it would make sense for Pokemon to do it. Imagine if when the 7th gen comes, because we'll probably get the final game of the 6th gen pretty near the end of next year, the new 7th gen comes out with a Fire Emblem style release. I don't know, it's a thought, and I can't say I'm surprised you came up with it, but I don't really think that's the same thing.

It is likely dependent on the game. If it is a game I really like and the special edition isn't that expensive then I might get it. One such situation is Shin Megami Tensei 4.
