In the opening introductory scene of Star Wars: X-Wing for DOS, it reuses the scene from the film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back where the two Imperials Captain Xamuel Lennox (right) and Lieutenant Cabbel (left) are aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer which is shot down by the ion cannon over the planet Hoth.
Here's the scene from Star Wars: X-Wing.
And here's the scene from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
And also the same scene in one of the later special editions but with the ship's deck altered.
Despite the scene being reused, and X-Wing set a couple of years prior to the events of The Empire Strikes Back, the 2014 book Star Wars: Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide reconciled this by stating that Xamuel Lennox was present for both events depicted, except for Cabbel.
