No Offense, but what's happening with VGFacts
#1
This is not really a Complaint, but I think it's about time I've explained. I've not had any Private Messages for 2 1/2 Months, as in no Pending Trivia I submitted in that time has been Accepted or Rejected to be Featured on VGFacts. In that time, a fair amount of the Trivia Coming our way has been only by Staff Members, mostly Knowledge Base, and very few by the Well Known Submitters. What's VGFacts been up to in the Past 2 1/2 Months anyway? Last time I had a Private Message was about this Trivia: http://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/9974/

I've tried my best as usual to Keep my Patience under Control, and in that time whilst waiting for a Trivia Piece to be put onto the Site, I've gone through my Trivia Submissions that they're Good Enough to be Accepted. This means ensuring I have a Good Enough Source, ensuring I have the Right Sort of Categories for each submission, ensuring that the Grammar's good enough, ensuring the submission's are in my Own Words compared to what's Stated on the Source, and making sure that noone beats me to those Submissions. Most of the Submission's are of Games that are not already featured on VGFacts, this includes the Cancelled Star Fox 2, as well as one from the Only Mainstream Mario game not already up on VGFacts (The Lost Levels). And I take back my report of having this Trivia Piece of Mine being removed: http://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/6938/

Anyway, I appreciated from the Patience I've given during the time whilst waiting for my Pending Submissions to be approved. During that time, I've as usual continued to watch the Trivia Submission's that've been submitted by Other Users being approved.

The reason you're seeing new trivia from staff is because it's instantly approved and skips the submission queue. Generally, staff trivia is added to support upcoming videos but it can also just be because they found something interesting. The queue is currently sitting at over 500 submissions and we have very few (one, most of the time) people to go through it. Until we can find some well-qualified staff to do it consistently, it's going to be a while until the queue is cleared. It's unfortunate but not much can be done about it for the time being.

We also have to take into consideration (as I pointed out to another community member in the past) that we have school, jobs, etc. Lately, if I'm not working more than 40 hours a week, I feel like I'm working part time. Y'all just keep on doing your thing.

I know that Staff are alright to Post Trivia as much as anyone else, you're always welcome to do that, sorry if you were insulted.

A few days after I posted this, I managed to get some More Submissions. Whilst I wait, I take the time to go through my Submissions to ensure that they're all Good Enough to be Accepted (that includes the Source, the Grammar, and ensuring it's in my Own Words), as well as to think about whether or not I still think I should submit that, or to change it altogether. Wow, Staff get to experience Much More than anyone else can, I still remember that there's as much people determined to Submit Trivia, hence the 500+ Submissions in the Trivia Queue, and that only 1 Submission can be Approved per hour, hence the Unpublished Trivia Section.

Is it possible to get community volunteers? Just curious. Perhaps a medium between users and official staff members?

I had a related question. I've had trivia for some Star Wars games pending for about a month and one other trivia for almost two, I expected them to be pending for a while, but then about a month ago I submitted trivia for Borderlands 2 and within a couple of days, it had been accepted and published despite 14 other pieces I had submitted pending

Trivia isn't always dealt with in order. If a piece is obviously good or related to something we're working on, it might be approved more quickly. It could also be just that the person who approved it happens to know a lot about or like the series and went for it as a result.

Week after Week, whilst waiting for Another Private Message to come through, giving an Update on my Trivia Submissions and Trivia Submissions I reported (the latter I don't always receive Staff Feedback, even though), I watched people's Trivia Pieces getting approved, a lot as we may know are from KnowledgeBase, no offense on that, though I personally was hoping to be the First to have Star Fox Zero posted to VGFacts (it's that Trivia revealed in the Digital Event about the Arwing's Walker Mode, that I finally decided to post in November). In addition, I have gone to the Forums whenever need be, asking stuff whenever need be, noticing a New Reputation Section for me, and have had a Good Look over my Pending Submissions to ensure they're Good Enough, and I have been trying to report a Trivia Piece of Mine posted onto the Wrong Page, which was my latest approval. In addition to reporting one of my Star Fox Assault Submissions, which I never heard back from: http://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/6938/

I guess the Trivia Queue is still at 500+ by a lot of Determined People, not only me (one person on the VGFacts Trivia Disputes states he currently has about 50 Pending Submissions). Petie has stated New Staff are being searched for, well Good News, a New Staff Member for VGFacts has now been found, the one who posts a lot of Kirby Related Trivia and Regional Difference Trivia that noone else could think about posting, Ophl. Can't determine for sure what VGFacts looks like through a Staff Members perspective compared to mine, but I'll say there's a List of Pending Trivia from each person, each having an Accept and Reject Button, but only 1 can be Approved per hour per staff.

We can approve more than 1 an hour, it goes into a secondary queue which then publishes it to the front page every hour.

The queue is currently sitting at about 1,040 submissions.

We've had a lot of upset over the last month that has set up back, but we'll be working to bring the queue down and bring the site back to its normal self soon. I recently had to make a move, which left me without a house for 3/4 weeks. I am back on my feet now and I'm actively seeking out help. I have a lot on my plate, as you can imagine, so I cannot fully put VGFacts at the front of my list. However, it is something I will be working extensively to bring down soon.

One thing to note. I don't believed it's a case that only one can be approved per hour, its that of the approved submissions only one is posted per hour.
For instance if a staffer took a look at any of my, currently 26, submissions approved they could presumably approve or refuse all 26 of them in three hours (arbitrarily chosen number). So let's assume they accept 15 and refuse the remaining 11. Only one of those 15 would be posted up on the site per hour. And with other peoples' submissions being accepted as well, it might take 32 hours, or whatever, for my 15 submissions to go up depending on the order they were queued up. That's how I understand it.

Edit: And Dazz beat me to it while I was sleepily typing.

Welcome back. Since you were last active, a New Staff Member had been elected, following your Search for a New Staff, who happens to be Ophl. Plus, one of your submissions has been edited with additional info that was confirmed twards the end of last year regarding a game that released a Couple of Weeks ago: http://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/7288/

Sorry for the confusion bout how you approve trivia, following something Petie said: http://www.vgfacts.com/forums/thread-2721.html
Yet for a Specific Staff Member to get through Multiple Submissions to Approve at once...

Heart
Well, this has been the longest wait to date for a Trivia Submission of mine to be approved. It's been about 3 months since the last time. Currently I'm at 25 Pending Submissions, going as far back as November last year. I'm ensuring the Submissions are decent enough for approval (Neat Grammar, in my Own Words, Decent Wording, a Good Enough Source, ect.), and I've longed to see what's thought of my Trivia Submission for a Cancelled Game, but I try to make sure I'm not beaten to it by Other Determined Users. Not all Trivia has been easy to find for each game sadly enough, with their being Not Enough Trivia Places for Each Game (Unused Content, Easter Eggs, Behind the Scenes, ect.). Knowledge Base hasĀ  forgotten all about me, having only posted his own trivia, I personally hoped to be the first person to post Star Fox Zero Trivia, which I posted in about November, which came from Nintendo's Digital Event last year. Even the Newest Staff Member Ophl hasn't approved a trivia of mine for the past few weeks, atleast VGFacts accomplished their goal with finding New Staff. Submissions I reported the past few weeks have taken time to be edited, but atleast they have eventually. Last Trivia I had approved was this one, that got approved onto the Wrong Page: http://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/10401/

Hopefully I'll be in luck within the New Few Weeks. Ophl would be surprised to see that I have trivia submissions pending done in a Similar Fashion to what he'd do, Boxart Regional Differences. After I first made this post, I was in luck 4 days later. I'm giving all the Patience I've got, since I'm no Staff Member, so I can't have my Trivia Approved when I like unlike Staff Members. I'll always be staying tuned by watching the Submissions coming through onto the Trivia List Page week after week, and staying tuned for Private Messages, and doing Forum Posts on the Site Discussion Page to ask about some stuff, question some stuff, and talk about probs I seem to be going through. Personally I have a Submission Goal of the Trivia I end up with on VGFacts, may end up coming to a halt one of these days, keeping a decency level.

I have 55 pending submissions, oldest dating back to September 2015. It happens when it happens. I personally don't really mind since I know I've turned every rock for my trivia and I'm sure that whether they get accepted or not is entriely up to site standards, something we as users can't affect. I wouldn't be too worried.

60. I have 2 or 3 I haven't even submitted yet.

My oldest pending submission that I put in back in like September or October has just now been published with my second oldest in the unpublished Q and my newest that I put in yesterday is now in the unpublished Q. It really just takes however long everyone gets to them. The backlog is really huge I imagine.

We're now actively working to bring the queue down. We're tackling it in an order that allows a few of us to work on it at the same time.
