The UK's surveillance laws weren't meant to be a guide.

Researchers may have found 30 million missing girls in China.

Basically it says this: there could be approximately 30 million unregistered people in China due to the harsh former one-child policy.

Remember Martin Shirley...Shrekli...Skhreli....the prick at Turing Pharmaceuticals that jacked the price of an AIDS and malaria drug up 5000% ? High school students and a teacher created 3.7 grams of the active ingredient for $20, equal up to $110,000 worth of the same drug at the $750 per pill price he was charging.

This is news from a small country, but this is huge.

A dictator who has been in power for 22 years and who once claimed he would rule for a billion years, known for repression of the opposition and journalists among other things, has conceded defeat in an election.

It's hopefully a good precedent for the many other African leaders who have lost but have resorted to violence to remain in power, or to rigging an election. Go Africa !

Sailor Moon condoms are now a thing.

Hey, whatever works! I wish the USA would do more and think outside the box to encourage young people to use protection if they're going to be sexually active instead of primarily abstinence only education.

I agree with that 100%. I wish that law was in effect in the US when I was a child back in the '80s.

Yeah, those laws are way overdue. I still remember being a little kid and feeling so awful while I was bowling in league because so many of the parents smoked. There was just a constant hazy cloud of cigarette smoke, it made me feel itchy, and I could still smell it when I got home.

Smokers can really be an inconsiderate bunch.

Out of the many wildfires Tennessee had, the wildfire that started at "Chimney Tops 2" and spread throughout Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge destroyed ~700 businesses and residences, killed animals and destroyed their homes, and killed 14 people.

2 teens have been arrested as suspects of arson that started this fire and may possibly be tried as adults.

How can you possibly live with yourself after doing that kind of thing ??

^ It makes one think of they can even grasp the concept of cause-and-effect. I hear it was awful and my brother-in-law is one of the National Guard soldiers helping around up there and he will not talk about what he has seen (we know better than to ask).

We finally got some rain to help contain those fires (58% as of this morning), but that rain came with a cost; strong thunder storms and tornadoes destroyed homes, barns, a grocery store and did much damage to trees, homes, businesses, etc. I decided to drive through the county roads that I use to travel on weekly; it's heart breaking. My aforementioned brother-in-law is now working on the cleanup of this mess.

Here are some pictures:

...There was actually a bomb threat at the mall right in my city. Nothing like that has ever happened before. It's like fifteen minutes away from me.

I fully agree with this. My Grandfather who was once of the few people in the world with 15/20 vision meaning he could literally see things and in higher definition and clarity than we ever could went blind 5 years ago largely from conditions caused by secondhand smoking from my late Grandma. I can't be too harsh on her, she was a mostly very good person when she was alive, but for someone to lose their sight over something that happened years ago is just ridiculous. She smoked in front of me and my sisters a lot as well, we never liked it.
