Gundam 40th Anniversary: Hathaway’s Flash trilogy, G-Reco movie and more projects announced

Netflix is now making a live-action Cowboy Bebop series, Shinichiro Watanabe serving as creative consultant

‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ Is Coming to Netflix in 2019

The fact that Netflix not only got the rights for the original series, but also the two movies of End of Evangelion and Death and Rebirth is quite the impressive feat. Specially when you consider the fact that the NGE license was lost for many years now, at least in the U.S.A

And no, the "Rebuild of" movies do not count. That's a different beast.

Also, I wonder how this new generation will react to Evangelion, specially when you consider the Goblin Slayer "controversy" among other things (keep in mind that nobody said anything about Berserk back in the day, showing the difference in mentality). It is certainly going to be quite *ahem* interesting.

Toei Acknowledges New Remastered Movie Blu-ray Censorship via Apology For Incorrect Jacket Text Description

So I just watched the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. It was pretty good. Toriyama's Broly is better than his Toei counterpart, being a more fleshed out character rather than just a giant man-baby, all of this while still keeping certain qualities than make Broly.... Broly. Basically, they fixed was wrong with the character while keeping the good stuff intact.

The action was really good, with the fight sequences having a great choreography. While the 3D animation looks a bit wack, it doesn't last for very long AND it's a vast improvement over Battle of the Gods and Resurrection 'F shoddy CGI.

There are some aspects that, while it's good fanservice, it's introduction was kind of rushed. Them again, the movie's original script was 3 hours long (obviously they cut down most of it), so it's no surprise some elements feel, like I said, rushed.

I kind of wish they release an extended version of the film but... Nah. It's obvious that they are going to translate the story into TV format once the show inevitably returns. Hopefully they do not rush the development of the TV series next time around.

Oh yeah, since we are on the subject of Dragon Ball and rushed products....

In case you didn't knew, the reason why Dragon Ball Super had such a disappointing launch wasn't because they hired rookie animators. In fact, many of them had years of experience to back them up. Just look it up over at Animator's Corner.

The reason why the show had such a disappointing launch was because it was RUSHED.

Before an Anime TV series makes it debut on the small screen, it has a development schedule. Your average Anime show has a development schedule of 6 months, while Dragon Ball Super only had 2, two! Toei wanted to get some bucks ASAP while caring very little about quality. It wasn't until The Tournament of Power arrived than the development schedule reached some form of stability.

"um.... OK? Then why not just hire more animators? That should make things easier, right?"

https://goboiano.com/anime-industry-face...oductions/

Nope, quite the contrary. That just makes things worse.

EDIT: it should be noted that the second half of this post is about the TV show, not the movie. The movie, despite it's flaws, was one of the best things that came out of the franchise as of recently.

EDIT 2: This movie takes place in Age 780, the same Age as the Future Trunks TV special. Trunks was born in Age 766 (meaning he is like 14) yet he STILL looks the same! LOL. "But Saiyans are supposed to age slower", then how do you explain the Trunks TV special where Future Trunks at 14 looks older than his present counterpart who is also supposed to be 14?

Speaking of Dragon Ball.

I am going to binge watch the living hell out of that show so I can (hopefully) finish it before the new DBS movie premieres in the west.

Well.... Looks like I still have a long way to go.

Moving on from Dragon Ball... Happy 5th anniversary, Space Dandy!
