Just finished Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger. What an amazing game, that's how you do a sequel Nintendo!

Yep you should try these games on the 3DS. Play the first one first of course, it will make you appreciate all they did for the sequel.
I'm at the end of Metal Gear Solid and, FUCK METAL GEAR REX!!! Those fucking missiles are retarded, and when it's basically the only thing it does, I'm bound to die. And yes I know about the C. grenades, but that only works for the first half, the second half I'm screwed.
Is Silent Hill as a franchise pretty doomed? I'm watching Two Best Friends play Homecoming and it's really bad, like even worse than the Downpour one they played. I stayed away from the series because it was too scary, but I can even handle these. They're so lame! Have any other recent titles been any good?
I think Silent Hill is dying because the current dev team is made up of people who never worked on the first three, so they don't seem to understand why making combat good is actually hurting the series. I mean, compare Homecoming, Origins, and Downpour with the first three games. In the newer games, combat is done pretty good (for a horror game), so there's no tension when an enemy comes at you. You can just pull out a knife or an axe and just wail on them until they're dead. In the first three games, combat was something you avoided because enemies not only took forever to kill, but they could kill you in about three or so hits. You didn't want to go near them.

Not only that, but the stories in the newer games aren't as interesting. Maybe it's just me, but the 'twists' in the recent games are kinda easy to see coming, and don't have the same impact as the ones from the older games.

Ironically, retarded means slowed...
Good luck with that btw.
Nintendo 3DS is just SO awesome!! I love it!

What? Hell naw. I've played most of the series and loved every title. Yes, even Homecoming, which I found amazing. Downpour is a really solid title too.

See, that is your problem right there. You can't compare all new games to the originals. Do that and you will have a bad time. I take every title as a whole original game and don't even try to make connections to other games in the series unless it's clearly referred to. That way I've been able to enjoy a lot more than most people. And besides, making something better should be expected. It's ridiculous to expect things to remain clunky as they were back in the days of hardware and software limitations. Oh, and there is tension. Try to kill a Needler or a Schism in Homecoming without blocking or dodgin, just wail away. Dead. 0rigins and Downpour have breakable weapons, which means that each hit you make with one is one turn closer to death and killing more than one or two enemies in a row is most likely going to have you running without a weapon. Or how about the "no combat at all" in Shattered Memories?

You can't say with a straight face that you saw the ending of Shattered Memories coming.

To be fair, I actually liked Shattered Memories, which is why I didn't list it here. It was the only recent SH that wasn't just mediocre or bad. And to answer your question, it was also the only recent one where I did not see the ending coming.
I'm in the same boat as Mass Distraction. I haven't played Downpour but I loved Homecoming. It felt great to play and was a worthy addition to the series. I don't understand why Pat doesn't like it but he has bitched a lot about this game in their playthrough. It's really not that bad. Don't come to conclusions based on other peoples opinion I say.
^ So does it start picking up then? I just can't help but side with Pat when everything he's complaining about is right in front of my face. I don't like all the gray that's in the game and the enemies aren't overly fantastic. I am interested in seeing where the story is gonna go, though. Downpour didn't really grab me at all, but this one seems promising.

EDIT: LOL, and now I already like it better after the latest video. I really did think Pat was making some valid points at first but he is really starting to sound overly picky now. Yeah, the first big boss fight was a bit bland in terms of combat, but it was still neat.

It really does start picking up. It has a really nice twist ending. I agree, it's not as good as SH1 or 2 but it's faaaar from a bad game. SH:H focuses more on the characters than the town. I do think it is pretty pathetic how Pyramid Head appears as well, it's just bad fanservice. But eh, it's really not so bad. If you give it a chance you'll probably like get some decent enjoyment out of it.
Also this was the first Silent Hill to come out this generation(2009). If you do want a good Silent Hill to play, then Shattered Memories is a must. Just a shame it's on the Wii :/ Fanatic game though which was generally well received.

It's also on PS2 and PSP. I have the PS2 version myself because I lack a Wii.

Why....why is Mario naked?
^ Some crazy shit shows up on my Tumblr since I watch something called Ruined Childhood. Sometimes it's really funny, other times it totally lives up to it's name. There was a gif in the set I thought about posting but felt it might go a little over the line.
