Back when I attended the crappy Christian school I really liked the pastor that we had. Sadly he had a genetic disease that caused him to lose all control of his muscles, but I was told his mind was unaffected. I couldn't imagine being in his position and I would, without a doubt, request that I be put out of my misery when I was unable to take care of myself if it were an option.
I've actually read stories where the person who was ailing begged their spouse to help them end their life. Can you imagine being the person left behind? Yes, you helped end your loved one's suffering, but at the same time I would think it would also haunt them. It would be so much better for the person to slowly drift away peacefully from a chemical, surrounded by their friends and family. I think that would be a wonderful way to die instead of lasting a few more years in endless pain and not even really living anyway.
