Part of the problem isn't just righteousness. It's conceived reality. Sometimes we don't learn about something, simply because the writers didn't think it was a big deal, because to THEM, it's not a big deal.
My grandmother was in the Japanese internment camps.(Also. Newt is 1/4 Japanese. Hard to tell, I know.) My history books very, very briefly went over the subject. To the point where I couldn't find it. I had to ask my teacher about it, and he pointed out a small paragraph. When I tried saying they should be more largely mentioned in history books, my teacher shrugged it off and said "It wasn't that big a deal. It's not like we murdered them like Hitler did."
Hey guys, kidnapping innocent Americans and locking them into camps against their will with no knowledge of when they'd be released(Even prisoners know when they'll get released) wasn't a big deal, because we didn't murder them in cold blood. Cool. Thanks America.
