I like to think that sometimes things like fate does exist. Like something out there was like "This shelter cat is awesome and needs a good home. This Cuccos gal is awesome and will provide a good home." and thus you two found each other.
Oh, and check out this dog that's at my local shelter right now. She's a Beagle German Shepard mix!:
