This song right here came out in 1979, yet it sounds much like the electronic music of today. John Foxx is his name, take a listen.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer are another big influence. I love their instrumental songs more than the their hit singles, just due to how much more they had no inhibitions with it. Some have said this song right here should fit in a video game, which I agree, but which one is the question. Mind you, 1973, everyone. BTW, it goes nuts at the 5 minute mark.

Oh, and about ELP, Koji Kondo, who wrote the scores to multiple LoZ games and SUper Mario, calls them a massive influence.
