I'm not putting them in it until Tuesday, though, when I have the day off. I want to make sure they're OK with it and can find the water bottle.
Is putting piggies in a new environment anything like putting cats in a new environment? I did a lot of research before getting Nola, so when I got her, I put her immediately in the room with her littler box, water, and food. I did the same when we moved recently. It has helped her a lot (cats main goal is to find a good home, and they HATE being moved). Will you put your girls in the area of the new cage that has the water bottle?
With pigs it not that big of a deal if that's the only change (they LOVE having more space). It's really for my own piece of mind that I want to see them drink; if something's off they may not notice where it is or be able to reach it as easy.
I mostly doing this so I can separate them with a barrier when Dahlia goes into heat. She's so violent with Iris when this happens I'm afraid she'll really hurt her.
With Scuzzy I did everything a lot slower since everything was new to him and he was old. I let him get used to his cage being in a new space, get used to me, and then I got him the bigger cage Dahlia and Iris are in now (I couldn't get anything fancy with Scuzzy since his previous owner's neglect limited his mobility).
Is there no way to spey a guinea pig ?
PS - Photos of the pigs' new palace plz :)
