Still have the game though and it's nice to see that the game I thought forgotten gets attention. That's actually changed quite a bit as I've altered the route. The car I use most often throughout the run is the Sweet 16 II (used to be Double Vision). Double Vision has the highest top speed of all starting cars at 170. Sweet 16 II is close behind at 167, but it has better control and loses less speed on turns than does the Double Vision. Also, for reasons I don't know, Sweet 16 II stays in the air longer than Double Vision, so it makes some shortcuts much simpler. This makes it save time over all, even with the lower top speed.
Which car do you main? I played mostly Evil Weevil.
Second car I use throughout the run is the Red Baron. There are two tracks that save considerable time by using a 4x4. Sweet 16 II is not 4x4, so those two tracks I use the Red Baron as it's the best of the 4x4s.
Last race I use Twinmill I. You unlock it for the final race only, and it has perfect stats. You have to use it to win the final race. It's also 4x4.
If one did a segmentalized run starting with all vehicles unlocked, the only vehicles one would use would be Twinmill I or II. But since I start the run brand new with no cars unlocked, I have to figure it out as I go. I could unlock cars as I go, but none are worth the time saved vs. the time it takes to go out of your way to get them. Also, winning the final mission will give you every car yous skipped over, so it's really pointless to try to unlock cars.
