Thailand politics is severly messed up and the thing to remember is that a forceful change of government is a common affair.
There are the yellow shirts, and the red shirts. One is in power and the other protests etc etc.
Here's a good summary - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-13294268
Thailand in a nutshell !
- Redshirts in power.
- Yellowshirts all angry like.
- Yellowshirts protest.
- Redshirts instate martial law
- Yellowshirts get even shirtier and protests turn violent
- Redshirts forced to call election (or coup occurs)
- Yellowshirts are now in power
- Redshirts all angry like.
- Redshirts protest.
- Yellowshirts instate martial law
- Redshirts get even shirtier and protests turn violent
- Yellowshirts forced to call election (or coup occurs)
- Rinse and bloody repeat.
It's ridiculous. There had been trouble brewing for a while, and the current PM has just been deposed for corruption. Cue protests and repression and coups and revolutions and snap elections and bloody hell.
