In what is considered an opposite influence effect, The Matrix drew some of it's inspiration from Ghost in the Shell. The green text with a black background that was made famous in the west was a direct reference to a similar happening in the Ghost in the Shell anime. The Wachowskis pitched the idea to the producer saying, "They wanted to do that for real" making reference to that design and the idea of a cybernetic influenced world. The reason this is considered an opposite influence, is because Japan often takes influence from other culture's such as the animation for Big O being taken from Bruce Timm's animated works, the characters from fairy tail being influenced by J.R.R. Tolkien and "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" using several band names, songs and members names from Western Culture.
