Same.
Something I really loved in a recent game was Retro City Rampage. It had what seemed to be like perfect coding, and even though it was old school 8 bit design, you could fast forward and skip scenes, and toggle between tons of different options like color filters and borders etc that could be changed at any time.
I would love FFVI again, but give me the original SNES version with no load times first... then work from there with the translation fixes later versions had.
Don't shove CG FMV into and voice acting into it, don't make it 3D, and don't redo the battle system yet etc
Then let me mix and match as much as I want with remixed live/orchestral soundtrack, midi and CD soundtrack options... and toggle freely between the original 4:3 display and 16:9, HD redrawn sprites and backgrounds, 2D enemies that animate vs the original drawings etc mix and match. 100% authentic, original version always available.
This way it's like a Criterion film on bluray with everything on it. Perfect for true fans.
...and don't hire any stand ins for Yoshitaka Amano & Nobuo Eumatsu.
