Came back a little while ago from seeing Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. It was really good. The story was a little spread out, too many bad guys not enough good guys. Mark Wahlberg was a welcome addition with Shia LaBeouf's subtraction. No Megan Fox once again, but then again she was probably filming Turtles anyway.
The rest of this bit is spoilers so don't read on if you don't want to know what happened:
The story as I said was all over the place. One minute it looked like the CIA was just being a typical bad guy group that saw these advanced aliens and their tech and wanted it for themselves. Well that is how it started, but some how there is a Cybertron bounty hunter looking for Prime and then once more Megatron is brought back but now called Galvatron cause humans done goofed.
Mark Wahlberg's character is an inventor who lives with his daughter and he is a stereotypical overprotective father. No boyfriends, not dating, no fun, gotta keep her safe because reasons.
He is broke and finds Optimus Prime's corpse and starts to fix him up thinking he could make a ton of money and get out of debt but then Prime wakes up, CIA shows up and then the action kicks off and doesn't stop from there.
Humans somehow figured out how Transformer's can transform using their own metal alloy that they are made of, but there isn't enough so in comes the McGuffin Doomsday device that will put more of the metal in the ground but also kill all organic life in a certain radius, which they compared it to a tactical nuclear missile which apparently in this universe is the real reason the dinosaurs died out.
This is a very 80's style story and plot but the action is cool, the fights are awesome and it is a good popcorn flick to see during the summer. I say don't go to see this if you are wanting a moving story and well rounded characters and such. There are other movies out there for that. This is a Micheal Bay film. If you want action, excitement and shit that blows up (which Bay must just masterbate everynight to his own movie's explosion scenes because you can't go 5 minutes with out something blowing up or breaking) then this movie is for you.
