I felt that a lot of the meme placements were unnecessary. If it was the translators I could understand, but I doubt GF really added that into the game for the Japanese players.

I'm a bit rusty on the finer trivia details but (I forgot his name) works as one of the translators for Nintendo and is pretty much responsible for a lot of the references in the Pokemon games since Diamond/Pearl.
