The song "I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band) by The Moody Blues was written by sometimes lead singer and full time bassist John Lodge. He was annoyed that people were always coming to him asking him about questions about political problems. At the time, he noticed that many people thought singers knew a lot about politics and should take an active role in them (see for example how politically active Bob Dylan was). He felt he had NO answers to any such problems and just knew how to make music. On top of that, the band had recently heard that some of their fans were turning to their music for "spiritual enlightenment". Annoyed by all of this, he penned "I'm Just a Singer (In A Rock and Roll Band)" as a way of saying "HEY! QUIT ASKING ME QUESTIONS, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS!!!"
