So I saw Terminator today.
Damn, it was pretty good. Spoilers ahead.
The references were pretty great, the CGI Arnie from 1984 looked good. It was a shame they took him out quite early. I would've loved to see the first part of the flim being about stopping that Terminator, possibly getting up to the scene where he buys firearms and killing him there, just so we could see more of him and their plan of attack.
I did find it interesting that Skynet sent a Terminator back and it was intercepted by another Terminator and Sarah and the resistance sent Kyle Reese back only to be intercepted by another Terminator. I really did like that scene.
The humour was there as well, so I enjoyed laughing at the little things, such as when they got caught halfway through and they had to take a mugshot and the Terminator just did his freaky smile from Terminator 2 again, and parts where he even protected Sarah through the little things like reminding her to put her seatbelt on when she got into the school bus.
Sadly, the second trailer spoiled the bad guy which was really stupid so I already knew the twist which really hurt the effect the film was trying to give. It'd be like if Terminator 2 immeditealy told you "ANROLD IS GOING TO PROTECT JOHN CONNOR THIS TIME ROUND" it ruins the entire dynamic and the film in general I wish I never saw ANY of the trailers to be honest just so I could've gone in fresh without knowing anything since the scenes were amazing and stayed true to the original.
I did like that when 9 Year old Sarah is saved by the Terminator he looks exactly like he did in this scene and I really enjoyed seeing that, it was another nice touch.
Matt Smith was in the crowd as well, and when I saw him I thought he looked like the Doctor and then instantly thought that the Doctor in the Terminator universe would be brilliant. It was a shame he was a somewhat minor character for the role he played. He got like 2 minutes of screen time tops.
I'd welcome a sequel or even the trilogy they said they'd make just because I love Terminator films. I love all Arnie films, so more will forever be good for me.
