Game Editions
#5
No idea why, but a guy I used to work with at a restaurant in town always had spare special editions of 3DS games. I bought Bravely Default and Shin Megami Tensei IV off of him, since I was probably going to pick them up anyways. Other than that, it really comes down to how cool the special edition stuff gets. It ranges from Amazing, like the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance plasma sword lamp that's my most prized possession and only costed me seven bucks more than just the game itself; Too very, very underwhelming, like the Monster Hunter series.
As far as non-physical special editions (e.g. Super Ultra Legendary GAME OF THE ZODIAC YEAR bullsh*t), it's just a matter of pricing and how much you're willing to invest. I remember on a steam sale, I wanted to get the DLC for Skyrim, which I already owned, and it ended up just being cheaper to buy the Legendary edition because it was so cheap. Steam Sales man, they get in your head.
