I tend to just search random genre's on youtube and come up with something every now and again. There's not exactly a formula to it. I found bands like Babymetal and Spitalfield that way and they are some of my favorites. Also, I'd be lying if I said Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games didn't set what kind of music I listen to. A lot of anime does that as well.
