That piece was submitted in 2013, well before the interview. Someone had to update that. They do pretty well at updating trivia.
Did you read my Entire Form Post? It has elements like you'd see in every other Mario game, Bowser capturing Peach, Mario taking on Enemies, Mario Swimming, Bottomless Pits, Real Enemy Attacks (Not Fake Ones), and so forth. Of course, Bowser, his Minions, and his Children are enemies to Mario, and always will be.
