But then, I sat down and tried to imagine the faces of 49 people who were doing nothing wrong. I tried to imagine families, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers crying over a hole in their lives never to replaced.
Then I thought of friends. I was at a speedrunning marathon when it happened, and three of my speed friends who were there went out to a restaurant that was in the LGBT district during the event. My friends could have just as easily been in that.
When I look beyond the stats, I just see a cruel, cruel world and I know that changes have to come.
One of the saddest things I read about the shooting was that when the Police and Investigators were searching around the aftermath, they had to drown out the noises of phones ringing and vibrating around the rooms.
It's hard to think how awful that truly is.
