Plus they add a new gameplay element to most of the games that helps differentiate them, like the boat or the train or the cap.
But that's the same thing with a different name
A horse, a train, a boat, a bird, a wolf (etc) to travel around the overworld. It's another part of the gameplay that stays the same, therefore re-using old gameplay elements but with slight alterations. It's what we expect from a Zelda game, so it's not new.
But then there are the cap and the time traveling and the four Links and whatnot from time to time.
Btw. I'm not exactly defending the games, I've never even played one.
