Archie comics and the English version are two different versions by the way.
Sonic the Comic is actually quite interesting, while I wouldn't say to read it you could watch this retrospective series that I watched around 6 years ago. It was very informative and gave insight to background of the artists and stuff as well as the whole story arc for every character I believe. It was really interesting.
The Archie Comics still go to this day I believe, and relate to the current games somewhat. So for example, I think Sticks is the newest addition and they all have their new Sonic Boom bodies.
