Recently Beta64 did a video discussing Breath of the Wild's Beta, along with it's development cycle, including it's delays. Seems like it started development sometime in 2011. Once Trivia Posting is no longer disabled, I bet lots of stuff from Beta64's Video will be posted to the Breath of the Wild page, I might even post one myself (like of it's massive development cycle, hope I'll be able to think of a good way to phrase a submission like that).
