I mean, it's not surprise. There are like no games out on any systems right now that are worth a damn, but then 2017 came around and gave us tons of good games and it keeps on giving.
Nier sold well because it's one of the ten or so games you should buy a console for if your PC can't handle it, much like how The Witcher 3 became so big, it was released on consoles that have no games and became a smash hit.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the iterations of games on current gen consoles get more sales.
