I wasn't aware that they made a sequel to one of Kubrick's best films. I haven't seen it(or the Space Odyssey).

During the production of Space Odyssey Kubrick and British science fiction author Sir Arthur C. Clarke wrote down their ideas into a book was subsequently published in 1968 by Clarke under the same title as the movie. After that, Clarke released three sequels to that book, and only one (2010) was adapted thus far.
