So today I watched Iko Uwais' The Raid as well as it's sequel. M'boy, I can confirm that these two movies have become my favorite action flicks of all time.
The Raid: The movie goes straight to the point and instead focuses on building tension, which is something that does really well. The acting was good, but nothing really remarkable. The fight scenes has some great coreography, pacing and intensity.
The Raid 2: This movie is more story-driven that it's prequel, helping to tie some loose ends from the previous one. The fight scenes are even better compared with the first movie, being expertly crafted; to the point of considering them some of the best fighting sequences ever put to film. The acting was slightly better than the previous film. Easily the best of the two.
Keep in mind that neither of these two movies are for the lighthearted, since there are some serious instances of brutality and gore in there.
EDIT: So I recently found out that the main star of those movies, Iko Uwais, was featured as a fighter in Man of Tai Chi. That suddenly made me like that movie even more.
