Favorite incarnation of Link!
I'll go with the one from Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (later know as the Hero's Shade by the time of Twilight Princess)
The reason why he's my favorite is because I like the whole "tragic fallen hero who died with regrets" deal around him. It makes his character more fleshed out and different.
After looking for three stones, Link gets the Master Sword, and unbestknow to him it gave Ganon access to the Sacred Realm. Ganon turns everyone in Hyrule into a ReDead, and completely wrecks most of the world. Then, he sets a journey through five nightmarish temples, only to find out the people who believed in him the most died because of his actions. He killed Ganon, and got sent back to the past so he could live the rest of his childhood and the adolescence he never had.
After the events of OOT, Link starts searching for his friend, only to get trapped in another body and sucked into a mirror-world, living through a repeating three-day nightmare and eventually finding his way home. And what happened after that? He lived on carrying nothing but sheer regret because nobody remenbered him as the hero he was and because he never had the chance to pass on his knowledge of swordsmanship to the next generation...
He fulfilled everyone wishes, at the cost of his own. He lost his friends, his home, and his own right for happiness.
The goddess of time can be cruel, don't you think?
