The 'About' page on smashbros.com lists Ultimate as having 66 characters in total. Since Pokémon Trainer is counted as only one character on the site, this means we currently have 64 fighters announced. This leaves 2 spots open for new fighters.

Strangely enough, the list of characters on the 'Fighters' page has just enough space for two additional character slots.
