Here's the trailer for the upcoming DBS movie. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Man, the animation looks janky AF. Japanese animation studios try to replicate the feeling of 2D animation in 3D but the final result looks weird most of the time. Only Arc System Works has managed to master this technique. Either learn from ArcSys or just animate something in 3D the way is supposed to be animated.
Hell, they don't even need to learn from Arc Sys. Anime studios can take a lesson from... video game cutscenes.
There are video game cutscenes that have better animation than most 3D anime out there. Let that sink in.
And why is the movie done in 3D animation anyway? Naohiro Shintani's style was universally praised when the movie came out (and is still praised). EDIT: I found out that Shintani is too busy working on One Piece.
Happy 15th anniversary, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion!
Happy 15th anniversary to the Death Note anime series! (The manga is from 2003)
