Have you ever wondered why the United States is called.... you know, the United States? Why was that name chosen? Sure, it's a descriptive name, and it gets the job done in that regard. But if you think about, the name "United States of America" could be aplied to every single country in the Americas. Not to mention the people confusing the country and the continents (for example, an Argentine can't say he's American because people would instantly think he's from the U.S.A).
