I'm not sure about the story or the timeline, but I heard a rumor that the overworld may be identical.

I'm hoping it won't be the same world, but judging by the videos of the overworld I've seen, and the fact that I started replaying aLttP literally the day before this was announced I can confirm that I've seen some of the same areas.

I'm too lazy to get screenshots but if you love aLttP as much as I did you'll probably recognize this as I point them out:

0:28: Lumberjack's house next to the lost Woods
1:19: Near the entrance to Death Mountain--just south of the last overworld bit

Hopefully this only means that the world will be added to around the Lost Woods area, and this portion of the map was only included to help the feeling that it's the same world. As much as I love aLttP, I would hate to have another game set right there because what else is there to do? Aghanim was cast down in the Dark World, Gannon was killed, and the Sacred Realm restored. I haven't finished the game in a while but didn't the seven maidens seal off the Sacred Realm again?
