"More or less", I can understand being used everywhere. But what situation warrants several "gollies" ? Was your friend one of those people who try to use olde sayings all the time, but can't pull it off ?
He would say things like "Golly, what do you want to do?" and "By golly, that looks cool." It was literally every sentence. But as I said, you sorta get used to it.
I still cringe every time i hear the word golly...
