I mostly watch anime now, but I grew up watching classics such as Looney Toons, Felix the Cat, Popeye, etc. While I do believe that some animated shows on TV are pretty terrible, sometimes there are gems that may just "look bad". One of my favorites is "Regular Show", as while the plots sometimes tend towards the ridiculous, at its core, it's about two 20-something guys who are working menial jobs while trying to figure out what to do with their lives, which is something that many people can identify with.
As for theatrical releases, I love Miyazaki films and anything by Pixar. Early Miyazaki films were always magical, portraying strong, memorable characters. I don't find newer Miyazaki films to be quite as amazing, but they are still fantastic and worth re-watching. I have yet to see a Pixar film which has been anything but great (although I haven't seen Cars 2 yet, which I believed is regarded as their worst film).
