If you ever have spare time I'd suggest playing the flash game, and watching the anime "Akagi". Akagi was a big influecence, and upon watching it again I'm understand it a lot more, and finding new ways to play (such as opening your hand during a richii to attempt a Tsumo, or when the odds are unlikely that someone would play into your hand)
Flash game is great for learning things like what Pon, Chi and Kan do, and learning hands.
Right now I have to learn the hands, and the wind position that I am.
