The Free Gaming Thread v3: Check Out Cosmyk's Mustache

I had a Mega Drive Model 2 set up in the living room for whenever I want to play it, along with other consoles. It's being fed into a three way scart splitter, which is being fed into the TV.

I recently found my Saturn Model 1, and noticed it had a Disk Drive error, I decided to open it up and fix it today, and went to check on the error again. I plugged the Saturn in and connected it to the scart splitter. I forgot to bring a controller and went upstairs to find one.

A few moments later I heard Outrun music coming from the TV. Confused, I noticed that the Mega Drive was on, and must've been on for a few hours since I was recently playing Outrun on it. Due to the nature of the scart splitter, if two consoles were on at the same time, they would fight each other for video output and you'll usually get a mess of the two on screen along with both of their audio.

When I tried to turn the console off, it wouldn't turn off. I clicked the power button multiple time and even taking out the power supply wouldn't stop it from playing. When I turned the Saturn off, the Mega Drive turned off as well.

I turned the Saturn back on, and the Mega Drive turned on with it, without the power supply in the console. I wanted to see if the Mega Drive could play the game, and mashed Start a few times to get it to play, and surprisingly it did. I couldn't see anything on screen, but I could hear the game running.

I have no idea how this is happening, but somehow the Mega Drive is being powered through it's AV cable from the Saturn.

Does anyone know why this might occur? Both power cables are connected to the same power extension if that helps. I also tested this out using a Model 1 MD with another Scart cable, but this one wouldn't power on.
I've done the exact same thing before with a Model 2 Genesis and a NES when I was wiring up stuff for a speedrunning convention where we needed to be able to switch consoles quickly.  I have no idea how or why it was working like that and we eventually just took the Genesis off and made sure it was not hooked up with anything else at the same time.  It was really bizarre, no idea how or why it can do that.
