This is a small, neat discovery my girlfriend made while shiny hunting. In PT and HG/SS (NOT present in D/P or any future titles in the series), Bidoof's gender difference is actually slightly different in these games. Whether this is a mistake or not is unclear, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Normally Bidoof's gender difference is only seen on the tail, but in these two games the patch of tan fur around it's face is different between the female and male! While this isn't apparent when enlarged, when the sprites are small (as you would see them in the game), female Bidoof's bump on that patch of fur appears longer and less pronounced, while on the male it's more pointed and pronounced. When enlarged, you can tell this is because of the way the "outline" color is drawn on the female vs the male. I've attached an image to this post with the difference visible, and I'll link Bidoof's sprite history on the PokemonDB website here

Towards the end of the HGSS opening sequence, there's a part where the 3 starters all move across the screen. Toto and Chiko use their in game sprites, but Cyndaquil's is a Sprite not seen in any previous or future Pokemon game. Maybe it's an early beta sprite that remained in the final release for some reason. During my research, I actually found a Bulbapedia article talking about the Beta for the game, and it explains that this oddity existed in the beta, but makes no mention of it existing in the final release. This is something I've found while shiny hunting in HGSS and watching the opening a couple hundred times.

I haven't managed to find any mention of this online other than the misleading bulbapedia article, despite my hours of research So, here we are. Included is a screenshot of the Cyndaquil sprite from the opening sequence, taken directly from my capture card, and a screenshot of all of Cyndaquil's sprites from Gen II to Gen IV, taken from https://pokemondb.net/sprites/cyndaquil

(Deltarune spoilers) PIPIS - ''The Original''

Warning: This contains spoilers for Chapter 2 of Deltarune

In Chapter 2 of Deltarune, the player can encounter the Pipis enemy throughout Queen's mansion in the hidden Weird Route. Checking these enemies produces the flavor text "PIPIS - ''The Original'' An invasive species of freshwater clam."

This strange, idiosyncratic description appears to reference two different things at once. First and most readily obvious is the point about invasive clams, which alludes to Plebidonax deltoides, and Paphies australis, two species of clams found in Australia and New Zealand, respectively; both species are commonly known as pipis (singular: pipi), though they're both saltwater clams rather than freshwater and are endemic to their locations.

The "invasive freshwater species" aspect appears to have been transplanted from the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha), well-known in North America and Europe as a malignant presence in both natural and artificial bodies of water.

The fact that both real-world pipis clams are edible may additionally explain why Kris is able to eat "Fried Pipis" as a healing ACT during the Spamton NEO fight in the Weird Route.

The second reference is more obscure, but appears to be plausible: the phrase "The Original" appears to reference a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, called Pipis (sometimes rendered as "Pipi's"), which uses this exact phrase as its tagline.

The uncanny similarities in both name and wording, combined with the fact that the restaurant has been active since 1986, makes it reasonable to infer that the Pipi's enemy's CHECK description is in part a reference to the restaurant as well as the shellfish.
