In France, it supposedly makes your hair fall out.

I'm also tabling "the customer is always right"
I think we can all agree this is complete crap (as proved by the stop customering thread)

It just means that you make them feel like they mean something so they come back.

A lot of proverbs that come from religion which are easy to counter.
Oh and YOLO.

"5 second rule!"

I mean.... Its not as good as all of yours... But whenever someone says it, I get super annoyed. The 5 second rule isn't true. The person who invented that saying was probably a sick person who liked eating food off the floor...

Or they don't care. Its not like germs are just going to actively avoid the table, the dishes, your hands, your mouth, the kitchen, and such, though I see your point.

"The Good Guys always win"
If that were true, we wouldn't much have a concept of bad now would we?

Wouldn't that be "Nice guys finish last"?
I've never heard of "Good guys always win" as thats not true, since I've yet to win any thing.

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" What if I don't want to make lemonade?!

This one always annoyed me. HOW can you make lemonade with only lemons ? You need a whole lot of sugar -- and in the figurative sense, in keeping with the expression, it means you need a lot of luck and good things and whatnot.

I prefer the version of the wise Phil Dunphy - "If life gives you lemonade, make lemons. Life'll be all like 'whaaaaaat' "

While not exactly in the same sense as most of the sayings in this thread, "it's always in the last place you look" comes to mind. This is just stupid if you think about it. Who keeps looking for something after they've found it...?

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away!"
You'll probably get sick eventually even if you did eat an apple every day.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold"

So if a guy shoots your family, you do nothing? 'Cause I would want to kill the guy who killed my family.

So, in conclusion, Revenge is a dish best served hot, not cold.

I always thought revenge is a dish served cold meant to kill your enemies in outer space. That's the coldest place I know.

Really? I always thought it somehow involved skinning knives, salt, and dry ice. I must've been way off.

In all technicalities, it really means emotionally cold. You let some time pass, so that you can best calculate the most effective form of revenge. So, you can kill them cold, as long as you don't become too emotionally involved.

Which, I agree is the best form of revenge.
