Then why say he was suspended when he was actually banned? Right there tells me that you think they mean the same thing.

Being banned for a period of time is the same as a suspension on this forum software. That is how a suspension is made, there is no secondary "suspended" user group. Is this really a big deal? Seriously? If a suspended user wants to view the forum, they can log out for Pete's sake.

Right now, you're making a bigger deal out of it than I ever was. I'm just saying there's a huge difference between a suspension and a ban. That's it.

You're right, there is. Common definitions of both words infer that a suspension is temporary and a ban is permanent. Those may not be exact literal definitions but it is how most people view them today. What you seem to be referring to is a suspension of posting privileges, which is also possible and only prevents you from posting. The common link here though is that, like a suspension from the forum as a whole, posting suspensions are temporary.

Now, can we please move on. This should never have even been a discussion to begin with.

K, I guess I have to make this a little more clear since it seems you still don't understand.

We'll use something else as an example. Getting your drivers license suspended means you can't drive, yet you can still be in vehicles. On forums, you can have it set up to have posting privileges revoked, yet still view the site as a whole. The warning system on this type of forum allows you to do that. Which I know for a fact because of a little joke that happened on April Fool's day this year. If you get enough warning points, you can't post, but you can still view the forum.

A ban is a complete revoke of privileges dealing with anything with the forums. When you sign in, the site tells you that you are banned from the forums, and that's the only thing you can see. Clearly, the only way you can view the forums is to not sign in, unless you get an IP ban then you can't view anything at all.

But I'm glad you guys are playing me as an idiot who doesn't know a single thing about forums. But you guys will never admit you were in the wrong, because that's like a universal rule for moderators/admins. They can never admit they were wrong.

You made my counter-point for me in your reply - you can sign out and still view the forums just fine. Like I said, I'm not arguing the literal meaning of the word here - I'm arguing its perceived meaning which is, for the vast majority of people, very simple. Suspended = temporarily banned and banned = permanent. Seriously though, drop it because in the end, it is entirely irrelevant who is right and who is wrong here. This is a pointless argument.

And yet here you are still thinking the 2 words mean the exact same thing.
